No buck for the bang!

On Saturday, Robin and Rue watched the rain fall all morning long.  They had high hopes of going to Handley's Holiday Hillside tree farm to get a Christmas tree.  At 2:00 PM it finally let up.  So Ryan and I decided to take the opportunity to go, since he works next weekend.  We fed our kids, dressed them in coats and boots and  headed to Solon, Iowa, 30 minutes from our house.

We arrived at Hadley's farm at 3:10 PM.  It was wonderful.  There were numerous trees to look at and fall in love with.  We combed the isles for about 30 minutes until we found the perfect one.

Grace loved dancing in the leaves.

Just as it was time to go, since they close at 4:00PM, we realized that we had no way to pay for our tree.  We had forgotten that they only accept cash or check.  And we had neither!!

Gracie got her hands COVERED in pine gum! She went home with grass glued to her hands!

So there was nothing to do but go home with no tree wishing we had more buck for the bang!

  1. So Grammy laughed very loud when she read this blog. She even said that she was kind of glad that it worked out that way because it made the story that Mommy told even funnier! So tell Mommy that she made Grammy laugh lots. Grammy even remembered a time that your daddy was soloing with the Utah Symphony. He had worked so hard on his cello concerto and he was 15 years old so it was pretty scary in that big fancy place with all of the people watching. Well ... and this is the funny part. He forgot that he had a cloth diaper that he used to wipe his cello off, hanging from the front of his cello. The conductor of the symphony didn't spot it either. I was there and started to giggle until your daddy started playing. Then I realized that I had never heard a cello sound so beautiful before in my life. Ya know what? I have thought the same thing every time your daddy plays the cello. But ... I do miss that diaper on the front!

    Love,
