Last night we sat down on our cozy couches in the living room to enjoy Family Home Evening. Ryan was teaching the lesson. He was telling the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. He had the kids captivated and their eyes were wide with anticipation as to how this story would end when I glanced out our big picture windows that overlook our backyard and noticed black, billowing smoke rising through the leaves of the aspen trees that line our backyard. Hating to interrupt the Dr during his very descriptive story, I exclaimed-- there's a fire! Ryan and I had just spent the previous hour cleaning our pool and we had just plugged the pump, filter, and heater into the same extension cord. I thought to myself--the extension cord is on fire!!! But luckily the fire wasn't in our yard. It was in the dumpster across the grass from us at the apartment complex.
It was a big dumpster. The kids ran to the back of our yard for a closer look. I called 911 and reported the fire. Luckily someone had already notified them and the trucks were on their way!
It was exciting and such a treat, especially for Christopher Robin, to see firemen working up close!
We had front row seats!!
The firemen worked quickly and had it out in a matter of minutes--and then the second fire truck showed up!
They were entranced.
The kids of course didn't want to leave until the fire trucks left. The mosquitos were eating me alive and my legs were starting to itch so I was out of there.... but this huge fire was quite an exciting end to a mostly boring Monday.
OH MY WORD!!!! This must have sent Jace into fits of joy! THAT was a little too close for comfort, B4, but the pics are wonderful!
